Ubuntu Icon Theme
by marex, Friday, July 11th @ 3:42 pm

Following the proposal on the Ubuntu Art mailing list, I decided to create a little mockup of what I think the new Ubuntu Icon Theme (aka Human) should look like.

As you can see it mostly uses the Tango-Styling-Guideline, with a little bit of extra gloss. I also used some colors from the Tango color palette, but modified it so it has a more brown-sand-like look.

The main focus of this theme is, to create a modern, elegant icon theme that fits well into the Gnome desktop.

A few tests to see how the icons work in different sizes:

If you have some feedback or suggestions, just drop me a comment. :-)

Yes. Definitely ways better than the current Ubuntu icons. I definitely love the trash icon. The current (8.04) one is really ugly.

Could the folders get a lil’ ubuntu logo?

This is the current icon theme I’m using: http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7164/screenshot1kr9.png

I don’t know the name of it, but I like the branding.

The folder icons aren’t consistents, the glass reflect is diferent in the biggest icon

You have to decide if the mouse is in the computer icon or not, it can’t disapear in small size

The paper icon are too confused

The icons don’t respect the icon guidelines

    I don’t like them

I actually reworked most of the icons. And yes they have some glitches… :-)

I should update the ubuntu wiki page….
